On Friday, May 8, the Center for Research and Teaching Excellence (CRTE) and the Graduate Division hosted their second-annual awards ceremony and reception in the California Room.
More than 100 undergraduates, graduate students and faculty were recognized for their contributions to teaching excellence at UC Merced during the ceremony.
Among those honored were the 2015 Outstanding Teaching Award recipients — Arthur Durazo from the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, Nathaniel Bogie from the School of Engineering, and Sarah Abboud from the School of Natural Sciences. The highly competitive award carries with it a $1,000 fellowship for each recipient.
Abboud was also recognized as the 2015 CRTE Graduate Student Fellow, which also confers a $1,000 fellowship. As the Graduate Student Fellow, Aboud will conduct pedagogical research, mentor incoming instructional interns, and participate in other teaching and learning activities over the next academic year.
